Co-ed fraternity breaks the mold

Written in 1972, Title IX states that “no person in the United States shall on the basis of sex, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” The most obvious application of this applies to men’s and women’s athletics at both the high school and college level, however it also works to create equality among other organizations, such as honors fraternities.

During the election: the elephant in the middle of the room

By now, we know all about the drama and historic precedents that were set in this election campaign. But how did it all come together so perfectly for Obama? How were Americans able to put aside any prejudices or stereotypes they may have held? Did race play as big of a role in this election as one may think?

Cannabis Reform Coalition’s Take on Question 2

The CRC started up in 1990 with the goal of decriminalizing marijuana, making it the oldest student-run drug reform group in the country. After 19 years of campaigning and rallying, the group’s original objective was finally accomplished.

Opposition to Question 2

On Nov. 4, Massachusetts voters passed an initiative to decriminalize marijuana in the state. Greg Collins, the President of the UMass Republican Club, believes that the passing of the question does not send the right message.
